Locusic is a music streaming service (like Pandora) for local bands.
Listeners open the app, pick a genre and instantly hear music from the local scene - wherever they happen to be. Specifically, Locusic will play music from bands that are based within 50 miles of where the listener is.
It will be a great way for bands to find new fans - fans that are local to the band and can come to their shows. Locusic will be free for listeners and bands. It will be supported by ads from local businesses, thus strengthening communities by encouraging people to buy local.
We'll first launch the service in the Des Moines area - in the next few months. Then well rollout to other cities, the country, and the world.
We'll use the prize money from the Dream Big Grow Here contest to keep the business (including our servers) running until ad revenue kicks in.
