On March 11th, I went to an event hosted by Luann Alemao and her company, Luann Alemao and Associates. Being at the event reminded me why I love working with entrepreneurs and why it’s so important that we foster those entrepreneurs among us. I was so moved by the event, not only because the content was interesting and relevant, but because I had the opportunity to share with Luann her passion for etiquette, fine dining and wine.
Entrepreneurs can be the most important ‘glue’ that any community has- and this particular event proved it. The gathering was intimate and the company fantastic. Hats off not only to Luann and her team that she assembled to pull this together, but also to myVerona in Cedar Falls- the service and food were both outstanding. My girlfriend Holly and I sat next to Nick Tieber and Gary Kroeger. It was nice to meet some new faces here in Cedar Falls, and to reconnect with some old friends. All of this was possible because Luann held this Business of Enterprising Etiquette gathering.
In between courses, Luann took time out to explain how and why it’s so important to know proper etiquette. During the evening, Luann covered everything from the importance of proper silverware placement to how to properly and effectively introduce a friend to someone new. I even caught some of the waiters standing in back watching intently. My personal favorite tip was one regarding business cards. She jokingly said that oftentimes passing out business cards can be a veritable smorgasbord of craziness (my words not hers). She then went on to explain that in order to get her business card you needed to go up and speak with her so that she could begin to “build a personal relationship with you.”
Thank you again Luann for the excellent evening of enterprising etiquette!
This is a clip from the event where Luann explained the importance of giving proper introductions.
One of the many great pieces of information she shared with the group.
